Very Nice TV  This is our first HDTV of consequence. (We also have a 32  Vizio used for the kids.) I spent a lot of time researching HDTVs to learn about the technologies to know what is hype and what is significant. I spent time comparing sets in stores to get an idea of the differences though often they didnt display the same content or were too far apart to compare easily. Doing so proved to me that the 120Hz Smooth Motion technology made for a nicer picture regardless of the input if for no other reason than it required better LEDs in the panel.

I read any review I could find. I couldnt find any thorough professional reviews but I found many like this one. The gist of my research suggested that the SV370XVT was likely to serve our purposes well but I really cant offer an experienced opinion on how it compares to other similar sets. When it was on sale at Target for the Super Bowl I bought it. It is now mounted on the wall in the master bedroom replacing a CRT TV that quit. < :2010-09-15 04:53:05

Looking for a quality inexpensive HD for your 360 or PS3? 
Well if you are looking for a LCD HD T.V. to play games and Blu-rays then I suggest you check this one out. I agree with the other reviews about the remote control (not very well liked) but the set itself is unbelievable. I like many other reviewers spend a considerable amount of time looking at the stores models as well as hours and hours on-line reading reviews and matching stats. A few key points: it is American company (bonus) it is 120hz (one of the cheapes of the kind) it can keep up with Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 without blur or pixelation. I would say for the Xbox 360 you probably wont find a better choice in this class and size. I also have a PS3 but only play a few games mostly just watching blurays (which are great). For what its worth the price point naturally is going to make you skeptical but dont let your worries of other products following the  get what you pay for  model. Great TV For This First-Time HDTV Owner 
Plain and simple: This is a nice TV for the price.
I did plenty of research before buying this and after considering the size price brand features and online reviews this was my choice. Ive had this TV for 4-months now and I have to say that Im VERY happy with my purchase.

I will admit that I was an HDTV noob before buying this Vizio as I never owned one before. So even though I give this TV a ringing endorsement I cant honestly tell you if it compares favorably or not to any others.
All I know is that it looks great to me and my Xbox 360 Wii and DVDs all look spectacular on it. I also stream Netflix movies on my laptop and watch them on the Vizio via an HDMI cable and it looks quite good as well.

Before buying this TV my main concern was how standard definition TV would look on it as I do not have HD cable yet. For those of you who plan on using this with SDTV I have to say that it looks darn good. Admittedly SDTV doesnt look as :2010-09-15 04:53:05

Simply Fantastic 
Over the last 40 years whenever I needed a TV after doing great research at the time I have always bought the best TV available (usually Sony XBRs or Sharp Acquos when they were the best.) I look for an excellent picture (superior contrast brightness and image detail in center and corners) and good sound not requiring a home theater setup and I am willing to pay for it. We needed a new TV for the master bedroom. Got a 32  Sony Bravia ex500 at Best Buy $628 - it is the first Sony TV I have not been happy with the picture was not as good as it should have been. Wow A Fantastic TV!! The best picture of any TV we have had even far better than my old Sony KD XBR 960 Trinitron Wega Cathode Ray Tube (it had the best picture available at the time I bought it.) Agree: Great tv for the money!  Ive had this Vizio sv370xvt for about a week now having come across it at target for a clearance price of $545. Am so glad I had done some research so was in a position to buy. Inventory must be so low there they took it off their website altho you can still google and see the page. :=)
Anyway if you find one at your local target for less than you expected you will be very happy on almost all counts.

Picture: Happy. Great picture with digital cable channels broadcast in 720p or 1080i. Regular 480i channels are only average. Has zoom1 zoom2 (closer up) or normal (4:3) settings. Panoramic or stretch also on some channels the tv automatically decides what to offer. Great picture on digital broadcast channels in 1080i. As it should have.

I dont find the Vizio label that glows softly during use too distracting yet. Have watched one old black and white movie and with some adjustment of the dark settings I was fine with it.

People Let's Be Real
I have heard all the negative about this LCD and I just don't understand. I purchased mine from Sears 700.00. This Vizio is an excellent LCD monitor, now I got more than I had anticipated: Internet use(surf the net and watch a game at the same time w/o twisting my neck); HDTV for sports and a few other channels, who cares about seeing every blade of grass, it is all about what marketing does to get into your head about what is good and not so or likes to think they could control your mind and tell you what is good. Like anything else, one must look at what he/she needs and will you be able to use all of the connections, for instance. I have a fairly new JVC 7.1 reciever, but it does not have the HDMI inputs(I have component), so I can't use it to the fullest capacity, but in time I will move up and do so, but it is not important now. I see people complain about the sound, but they must remember this is not a stereo LCD TV, now if you want that you must make the hook-up to your stereo system to get the full surround sound. (I did this with my CRT, Klipsch 5.2, Vandersteins;bdrm Bose 5.1 KEF and JVC
One other thing to mention, if your equipment doesn't support our ever-so-changing technology, your Vizio can not morph your stereo system into something it isn't.

PROS:
Sound: is excellent for what is in it (Bose, Klipsch, KEF, Vandersteins or Bang & Olufsen are not inside the Vizio)but they are adaquate to listen to and not hard on the ears.

Picture: great and adjustable and again I can't stress this enough, it is as good as your equipment.

Remote Control: can do everything needed and can learn to control most if not all of my equipment.

Setup: Very easy

Cons:
Now this is a knock on the industry as a whole, the (I) & (P) is frustrating, because years ago they came out with progressive scan DVD players and I had all my family and friends purchase nothing but progressive and now the LCD's and Plasma are 1080i(p). The industry is just greedy, so if you don't have DVD(HDMI input), HD-DVD or Blue Ray, your DVD players w/o HDMI will resort back to 480p just like the CRT.

Sound: none if you connect it to your stereo and if not, I've had people on the phone telling me to turn it down, again you get what you pay for.

PIP: you can only access it if you have the HDMI, Component, RGB. Why have all the connection if you can only access if you have certain equipment.

This is not the Samsung 4665F which I feel is the best on the market (when you can get it for 1800.00). Vizio is a great viewing device for the price. Do research before you purchase and talk to anyone that has the set you are looking to purchase.

Greate for small room
Otherwise either go bigger (such as a 1080p projector) or just get a higher contrast 720p display. That said...

Still wowed at how good the new LCDs are. A year or two with an Olevia 37" I thought was great compared at home with this new Vizio 37" 1080P downstairs: Damn. All I had to do was put everything in the middle setting, sharpness on 5 (out of 7), turn off all the processing and features, and put the backlight at about 10-20 to get the whites bright enough, or higher for brighter rooms. And the in-content blacks are still inky. It renders the entire contrast and color range faithfully except for a little laziness in the middle of the dynamic range curve that can seem "smoky" on some older video mastering jobs (you truly need CRT, Plasma, or exotics to get it perfect). And it doesn't have to be excruciatingly bright like the Olevias. That 237t-t12 even at it's lowest of three crude backlight settings still is kind of blinding in bright scenes, and I have the Brightness down to the point at which the blacks do not get blacker but I can still barely see the foot of the contrast curve.

That continuously adjustable backlight on the new screens is essential. Combined with better real native (not the dynamic software) contrast, and I am floored. And it was $200 cheaper than the Olevia originally! The only thing I'm troubled with is the promotion of this dynamic contrast mode so much in an effort to compete with Plasmas. I think the contrast really is getting good enough on these 37" LCDs that it doesn't need to hide it. Again, there's still obviously room for improvement as Dark City and the Fifth Element still aren't quite filmy yet in their gorgeous contrast rendition on any LCD I've seen yet, but it's getting there. At a higher cost, the newest multi-LED-based screens allow even more control over the backlight, but the only time I see any non-uniformity is on a completely blank, black screen with a very slight flashlight effect in the upper right. Much less than the 237t-t12. Now I must start worrying about upgrading the computer to have the horsepower to get one of these for my upstairs system! X-Plane or Blackshark in 1080P just isn't going to happen on a P4.

Oustanding buy.
With respect to all who may have a finer ear for sound and eye for picture perfection, I can find no fault with anything concerning my VO1370M. For me, I fail to understand how the sound could be better or the picture more outstanding. Seriously, anyone finding fault with this set must have received a faulty one. One feature which I have not noticed being covered in the reviews is the Quickstart Guide. Geez, this is a mega-guide. It measures over 31 x 22 inches, in full color, on both sides. This guide is outstanding. It even color codes the path between each back control panel input and the corresponding remote control button, i.e., which button controls which set of plugs on the back or side panel. It pictures, in color, each of the type input plugs and shows, in color, exactly where they plug into the control panels, and prioritizes, again in color, the best, good, etc., possible connections for components. As it turned out, all I had to do was plug the set in, attach the video cable, turn the set on and let it set itself up. No modifications, tuning, etc., were necessary on my part for a perfect picture. The remote is also not only very good looking but very clear and easy to use. Perhaps I was lucky, but I have no hesitation to rate this set five stars.

HD equals Highly Disappointed-rushed judgement
I had hear that VIZIO a subdivision of Toshiba provided a HIGH quality HDTV. So I bought the Vizio VO370M. It was easy to set up. I noticed that the auto tuner was finding less channels then my SAMSUNG. I also noticed how much larger the 37" Vizio's screen was when compaired to the 32" Samsung. I was looking forward to a bigger screen and great TV viewing. The sound quality was excellent. Then came the Vizio picture. I expected the analog transmission channels to be less then crystal chear. But the "HIGH DEFINITION" channels were all a tremendous disappointment. The picture quality was VERY POOR. The imaging was fuzzy and the colors were bleeding. So I called the seller and was told to "simply adjust it to your liking". I said give it "One More Try".

After spending two hours trying to adjust all the channels I gave up and went out for lunch and to look at other models of HDTVs. I returned four hours later and the picture seemed to have improved. Letting the HDTV run seemed to improve the picture. The images were sharp and the colors were clean and sharp. Long ago, flat panel computer monitors required a "burn in" period when they had not been tested at the factory. Seems that the picture quality continues to improve with use. Which indicates that the VO370M was actually new and not a return.

In all fairness, I can now recommend the Vizio VO370M or the Vizio VO420E. The quality of the picture is there, BUT it does take time for all the pixels to become luminated. Maybe, others did not wait long enough for all full system quality to activate. I don't know. Note the actual size of the screen is 37.2" and the power use is actually less then advertised in the documentation. This is a very good HDTV. I can not give it 5 stars because the documentation leaves a lot to be desired and the "burn in" period is frustrating for we who want instant on perfection. Also the lighted VIZIO symbol on the front of the TV is quite bright even when the TV is in standby. But all things considered, after giving a lot of time to set the screen image, sound quality, backlighting, etc, etc, etc, this is a REALLY Great HDTV.

Great TV once you know the workaround
Before you start using this HDTV you must go through the setup menus and change ALL zany settings to "off". Why, is because the manufacturer tried to be too smart with it's firmware and there are a lot of picture-auto-adjustment features that don't work properly. This is the cause of the black-outs experienced by the other reviewer: it probably has something to do with automatic backlight/contrast/brightness adjustment. Setting all menu options to "off" is a simple workaround and also shows your DVD just as the director intended. This set has a nice feature of "variable" line-out as well as the ability to turn the speakers to "off" - this means you can use an external amplifier and the Vizio remote will control the volume (dunno if other HDTV sets can do this - *shrug*). I recommend "AudioSource AMP-100" and some good speakers to go with it - which I would really do for any HDTV. Having said that it's great value for money because the set was marked down in stores (probably because of this problem.)

Newer model is a great 1080p for the price
There is a newer model (Vizio VL370M instead of VO370M) to which I give an unequivocal 5 stars: please see my review under that model number.

Very good TV for the price
Overall, I have had this TV for three weeks and I have very few complaints. I will say that most people complaints are valid, they just don't bother me.

There is a purplish tint that shows up when there are people on the screen. A slight nuisance, but it doesn't ruin the overall experience.
